Faith, Formation, and a Love for Adventure: Meet Matthew Thomas Lamb

Please warmly welcome one of our visiting seminarians, Matthew Thomas Lamb, to Saint Agnes! Matthew is an only child who grew up in Little Rock. His mother comes from a long line of Catholics, and his father was a non-denominational protestant who converted to our faith. Even though Matthew says that he grew up frequently spending time by himself he had a strong catholic community and felt that he got an exemplary Catholic education from the Little Rock Catholic High School for Boys. Matthew says that he has always struggled with shyness; so, to help minimize this trait, his mother signed him up for drama classes in high school. It was there that he not only learned to sing and overcome his fear of public speaking but also met the famous actor who played Jar Jar Binx from the Star Wars movies. Matthew was influenced by several priests and brothers who helped him along his spiritual journey and would someday like to give back by returning to help teach or be a mentor in the seminary. Recently he took a trip to Europe and was able to visit the place where his patron saint’s bones are kept at the Salerno Cathedral located in southern Italy. His travels also took him through Rome but unfortunately, he did not see Pope Francis. After visiting Italy, he has decided that his absolute favorite food is authentic Italian cuisine. Matthew describes himself as an avid reader who currently is reading not one but three different books, all different genres, at the same time. Matthew is always ready for a new adventure, as long as there is minimal chance of encountering a spider.
